DENVER, March 1, 2023 (Newswire.com) - HitCheck, the mobile app that clinicians and athletic trainers utilize to track athletes' unique brain performance and screen for signs of concussion, announced today that it would be leading an initiative, along with partners at the Plasticity Centers and CrashCourse, to bring cost-free concussion resources through the Mindful Players Project to the Metro Denver area.
The Mindful Players Project will provide pre-season physical exams, concussion awareness education and on-location concussion screening for athletes at no cost to qualified sports organizations and educational programs.
"Concussion in sports is a global health crisis. We have been working to unite a collaborative of leaders in sports, tech, health care and education dedicated to creating a landscape more mindful of players' brain health," said Mike Piha, CEO/Co-Founder, HitCheck.
Additional concussion recovery resources will be available through Plasticity Centers, through functional neurology—a holistic, non-invasive approach to brain health and brain injury recovery. It includes physical therapy, occupational therapy, chiropractic, vision therapy, vestibular rehabilitation, cognitive rehabilitation, hyperbaric therapy and photobiomodulation.
"Plasticity Centers is excited to partner with progressive, cutting-edge companies that recognize the societal impact of concussions. We are honored to provide clinical services that aid individuals in recovering safely and effectively when needed," said Dr. Shaun Kornfeld, Lead Clinician, Plasticity Centers.
The Mindful Players Project will pilot in Denver, with plans to expand to Atlanta, GA, and Orlando, FL. If you are a leader in a sports league, club or school (K-12 or college) and are interested in learning how to participate, visit: mindfulplayers.org.
About HitCheck
Drawing on decades of medical research, HitCheck takes standardized cognitive testing methods and translates them into short, simple mobile assessment tests that users can take immediately whenever and wherever a head injury is suspected. Each test measures a specific aspect of brain performance, such as coordination, memory, reaction time, etc. Once the test is complete, the technology captures important data, records and compares objective, quantitative results from prior performance, and highlights changes in brain functions that may require medical attention. HitCheck currently serves 300,000+ users with customers in six countries, including partnerships with Stanford University and Baylor Scott & White Health.
