The rare, viral infection, monkeypox, is spreading across the world but what exactly is it and why is there an outbreak now?
The virus has previously only been seen in its numerous outbreaks in central and West Africa.
However, in major cities across the world there are multiple cases of the smallpox-related disease. US president Joe Biden called for the world to be ‘concerned’ while leading WHO official Dr Tedros Ghebreyesus told the world to ‘lower your guard at your peril’.
