The Mama Bear Effect Nonprofit Denounces Conspiracy Claims Regarding ‘Sound of Freedom’ Film

The Mama Bear Effect Nonprofit Denounces Conspiracy Claims Regarding ‘Sound of Freedom’ FilmMisrepresentation of “Sound of Freedom” film as conspiracy takes away focus on the real-life experience of children trafficked every day.

“Sound of Freedom” is an inspiring film about the fight against human trafficking. Despite some media outlets like Rolling Stone criticizing it, the movie shines a light on a subset of real-life traffickers and abusers that target innocent children. The powerful impact of this film is not about the “hero” who rescues these children, but the characterization of the pain, fear, sadness, and trauma for the children and their families.

It is not unknown that predators travel to countries like the Philippines and Thailand to sexually abuse children. In third-world countries where poverty increases vulnerability for children, sexual exploitation and kidnapping is not conspiracy, but reality. In 2005, after a tsunami, an international effort was mobilized to protect orphans from being targeted by traffickers and pedophiles. To suggest that it is beyond the realm of belief that these crimes occur is to deny the very reality that is playing out on a daily basis.

Adrianne Simeone, founder and president of The Mama Bear Effect, a nonprofit organization educating the public on the issues of child sexual abuse, had this to share:

“Sound of Freedom is a raw movie that takes a hard look at the heartbreaking issue of child sexual abuse and child trafficking. It demands attention to the fact childhood is being exploited throughout our world, and that we must do our part as a society to protect children and break free from blindly seeing victims as statistics.”

Child sexual abuse and trafficking is not an issue that can be broken down in one film; we need to shed more light on this very dark and insidious issue. Just this past June, it was exposed again how platforms, like Instagram, are being used as networking sites for predators. This is not new information, yet society continues to respond with shock but not sufficient action.

When Ghislaine Maxwell was sentenced to 20 years for trafficking vulnerable teen girls in New York, Mexico, Florida, and the Virgin Islands, with deceased partner Jeffery Epstein, not one other accomplice was named; it is the opinion of The Mama Bear Effect, these abusers are potentially being shielded by the very authorities we hold responsible to bring such criminals to justice.

Patrice Griffin of the nonprofit organization Patrice’s Kids and author of “The Unconscious Community,” stands in support with The Mama Bear Effect: “As a survivor of child sexual abuse and trafficking, I have to carry this pain with me for the rest of my life. The Sound of Freedom brings the truth to light. Unfortunately, this is a reality for a lot of children. We need more movies like this to bring awareness and create better laws to protect children from abuse and trafficking instead of protecting predators.”

TiEnergy’s Founder & President Steve Berglund Honored by Crain’s Business as a ‘Notable Leader in Sustainability’Berglund receives award for sustainable innovations in the railroad industry

TiEnergy LLC, a family-owned railroad tie recycling and repurposing company that recently celebrated its 20th year in business, announced that its Founder & President Steve Berglund was awarded the “Notable Leader in Sustainability” recognition by Crain’s Chicago Business. TiEnergy partners with Class I, Class II, and Short Line railroads, commercial and industrial companies, and landfills across the United States and Canada to help them meet sustainability goals and reduce their carbon footprints. Berglund has pioneered innovative methods to give a second life to hard-to-recycle railroad ties and industrial wood, placing railroads at the forefront of the circular economy.

“I’m honored to receive this Notable Leader award from Crain’s Chicago Business, and thrilled that TiEnergy is being recognized for its impact on business sustainability,” says Berglund. “There are 20 million ties that are retired each year, and each repurposed tie saves 3.06 pounds of carbon. If each and every tie was upcycled, we could save 61,200,000 pounds of carbon from being released into the atmosphere annually. Our motto is simple: change the process, change the world—one tie at a time.”

These 20 million railroad ties that are retired each year have historically created a significant environmental challenge for railroads. Storing old ties in railyards is a fire hazard and utilizes valuable real estate, and woodchipper machines aren’t equipped to process the metal plates on each tie. To solve these challenges, Berglund patented a technology called The Tie Plate Picker – a machine that efficiently removes the metal hardware from each tie so the wood can be ground up. He created a substance called TIEROC, an aggregate substitute made from ground-up ties that reduces the need for heavier, carbon-intensive alternatives. Landfills use TIEROC as a sustainable roadway for trucks, streamlining operations and preventing backlogs. These innovations have created a market for post-consumer waste that didn’t previously exist and opened new paths for industrial sustainability.

TiEnergy is a division of Midwest Companies, a company also founded by Berglund that manages industrial waste removal, hauling, construction and demolition, and related services.

About TiEnergy

TiEnergy is a family-owned company with a primary business of sustainable railroad tie removal, recycling and repurposing. Through innovative solutions such as TIEROC, an aggregate substitute made from recycled wood ties and out-of-service wood products, and patented technology that removes railroad tie plates, TiEnergy has created a new, environmentally responsible market for post-consumer waste. The company is a subsidiary of Midwest Companies, a sustainable waste management company that collects and recycles material waste for the construction, demolition, and railroad industries. BEK TV has begun broadcasting a new series called “Capturing America’s Heartland: CO2 Pipeline.” The reports explore the concerns and benefits of a proposed high-pressure carbon dioxide pipeline that would be built in close proximity to residential North Dakota. New reports will be released every Wednesday and Friday and will re-run at various times throughout the week. All episodes can be viewed live online at bek.news/capturingamericasheartland, or in the archives.

The CO2 pipeline has been the topic of controversy among residents and rural landowners across the Midwest, and particularly in North Dakota. It would transport carbon dioxide captured from ethanol plants in five Midwest states to an endpoint north and west of the Bismarck-Mandan area, in Oliver and Mercer counties.

“Earlier this year, I attended a meeting where legislators were present, and a young woman boldly walked up to the microphone and started asking questions about the CO2 pipeline,” says Lori Hinz, BEK TV host of “Capturing America’s Heartland: CO2 Pipeline” and “No Apologies.” “That moment sparked something in me. This is an issue with a lot of questions surrounding it, and I felt incredibly compelled to learn more about it and share what I learned.”

“Capturing America’s Heartland: CO2 Pipeline” invites experts on all sides of the issue to weigh in on a variety of concerns and benefits regarding building an unusually large pipeline so close to residents and property owners. From reducing greenhouse gas emissions and increasing technical, regulatory, and health and safety challenges, the series explores how the proposed route could affect the Heartland of America.

“My family and I live just miles away from the proposed pipeline route,” says Hinz. “This issue hits close to home for me.”

BEK TV is the only North Dakota-owned broadcasting company remaining in the state and produces more local content than any other television station. It broadcasts statewide on television and across the world via internet. BEK TV consists of content from both BEK Sports and BEK News.

BEK TV is the largest television broadcaster of high school and collegiate athletics in the region, broadcasting nearly 400 live events each year. The network also is the state’s top producer of original news and opinion programming. BEK TV is the 2021 and 2022 winner of the Bismarck Tribune’s Best of the Best contest, selected by the public for “Best Television Station.”

The concept behind BEK’s news programming is to provide a media service platform that is unscripted and uncensored. BEK TV hosts are untrained broadcasters who share their perspectives and views on topics and issues that North Dakotans are talking about. The BEK network never controls the messaging.

BEK TV broadcasts on television and across the world via the internet. For more information, log onto bek.tv and bek.news.

Intellihot Awarded Best Workplace for Innovators

Illinois-based water heating manufacturer Intellihot was recently recognized by Fast Company on its “The Best Workplace for Innovators” list for 2023. Coming on the heels of the world’s first tankless heat pump water heater being launched by Intellihot in early 2023, the development confirms the company’s organizational culture as the driving force behind its history of disruptive innovations.

With over 104 patents (issued and pending), Intellihot has been innovating, manufacturing, and selling tankless water heaters for large commercial applications like hotels and multi-family properties since 2009. Their products’ immense space-saving, cost-reducing, and energy-efficient features have made Intellihot the brand standard for several blue-chip companies and the most viable commercial water heating solution in the North American market. However, Chief Executive Officer at Intellihot Sri Deivasigamani reveals that the company’s dogged focus on sustainability could be the most critical reason behind its award-winning work culture.

“Our organizational philosophy has been simple. If you find and nurture highly skilled individuals in an inclusively collaborative atmosphere, empower them to take up professionally rewarding responsibilities, and direct their focus towards an altruistic mission like reducing energy wastage, employees tend to find a potent purpose at work which drives their best work,” says Sri.

While Intellihot’s aforementioned launch of the world’s first tankless heat pump water heater (The Electron Series) has become its crown jewel of innovations, the manufacturer has had a persistent history of transformational innovations. It has won an Edison Award for an AI-powered water heater failure forecasting service, built the world’s highest-capacity tankless water heater as small as a refrigerator, and patented a technology that can predict failures and service needs.

“Intellihot’s commitment to innovation and its proven ability to deliver meaningful, immediate and positive impact is indicative of the role dedicated companies and their teams can have on changing the world for the better,” said Praveen Sahay, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Wave Equity Partners. “As Intellihot’s lead investor, we immediately saw the promise of their products to drive both financial and environmental benefits, and we are incredibly proud to be involved in their ongoing growth and success.”
